OK, here's the dilemma. I hate it when people add me to their friends list without asking, if I've never talked to them. Fair enough; most longtime members of this site feel that way.
BUT - if someone I've exchanged only one or two messages with, if that, asks me if they can add me, I tend to say yes even when I know they won't actually talk to me again.
Why? Is it because I don't want to offend anyone by saying no? Is it because I don't want people thinking I'm a nasty piece of work? I don't know.
Is it mean to turn round and say to someone, "To be honest, I'd prefer it if we could establish a friendship of sorts before you do that"? I don't think it is, so why don't I do that?
